Find Sevier Jail Releases

To find someone released from Sevier County Jail, first determine whether the person left custody or moved to another custodian. The Richfield jail holds local detainees, people committed by other counties, and some Utah state prisoners. Each group follows a different release-record path. A missing name on a current list does not prove a community release. Reliable confirmation comes from the jail, the court record, Utah custody notification, or state corrections records when the person was held under state authority.

Sevier Jail Release Paths

A departure from Sevier County Jail has several possible meanings. A local detainee may post bond, receive a judge's release order, obtain dismissal, or finish a county sentence. A person may instead move to the Utah Department of Corrections, another county jail, federal custody, treatment, or another authorized placement. That second group has left the building but has not returned to the community.

The legal custodian controls the useful record. The Sevier County Sheriff's Office keeps the local booking and custody record. The committing court records a bond decision, dismissal, sentence, or other court action. UDC and the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole control state-prison parole and sentence termination. Ask the jail both whether the person remains there and what authority received or released the person.

Key distinction: “No longer at Sevier County Jail” can mean release or transfer. Obtain the departure type and receiving agency before drawing a conclusion.

Confirm a Sevier Jail Release

Start with enough detail to separate people who share a name. Full legal name, date of birth if known, an approximate booking date, and a case or booking number are useful. Then use the source that matches the person's custody type. The Sevier County released-inmate search path explains the wider county, state, court, VINE, and federal sequence.

  1. Call Sevier County Jail and ask whether the person is presently held.
  2. If not, ask for the physical departure date and time, release type or authority, and receiving agency.
  3. Check Utah VINE for a reported custody change, while remembering that a transfer alert is not a community release.
  4. Use the Utah Courts Xchange information to trace the case action behind a local release.
  5. For a UDC contract inmate, check UDC Offender Search and the Board's decision record.

A VINE status is useful notice, not the legal order. Court entries can explain the authority but may not state the exact time a person passed through the release desk. A jail custody entry is the best county source for the physical departure.

The sheriff's jail page is the official facility source. For a same-day check, use the jail line. For a lasting record, ask the sheriff for an existing booking-and-release sheet, custody movement entry, release log entry, or booking photograph tied to one booking episode.

No reliable records-counter hours were published in the reviewed sources. Confirm access before visiting. The sheriff also provides an electronic GRAMA request form. A request should identify the person, approximate booking date, desired record, and date range. Ask for public portions and the legal basis for any redaction.

Published charges on the research date were $5 for a basic request, $25 when digital media is required, and $50 for certification. Fees can change. Utah GRAMA generally calls for a response within ten business days, subject to statutory exceptions and extraordinary circumstances.

Sevier Jail Record Fields

A “release record” may be a booking sheet, custody log, release sheet, bond entry, or response from the records custodian. Ask for existing fields instead of requiring staff to create an analysis. Codes may need the agency's own definition.

FieldWhy it matters
Booking and case numberLinks the departure to the right custody episode and court case.
Release date and timeShows when the person physically left the jail.
Release reason or authoritySeparates bond, court order, sentence completion, parole, and other events.
Destination or receiving agencyShows whether the event was a transfer rather than community release.
Hold or detainer dispositionMay explain why another agency took custody.

Web visibility and government retention are different. Sevier County did not publish a reliable number of days that a released booking stays online. Ask the records officer for the applicable record-series title and retention schedule if the age of the record matters.

Note: A current roster answers who is displayed now; it does not replace the historical release or custody-movement record.

Sevier Jail Mixed Custody

The strongest local release-search fact is the jail's mixed population. The sheriff's official facility description says it houses prisoners for three counties and UDC. A UDC inventory also reports contract beds at Sevier. Physical location and legal custody are therefore not the same fact.

If another county committed the person, its court or sheriff may hold the controlling case and release record. If UDC placed the person in Sevier under a contract, state status, Board orders, and AP&P supervision matter. Work crews and local programs do not prove release. A person may take part in an authorized activity while remaining in custody.

Sevier Jail or UDC Release

A local pretrial or county-sentence release stays in the sheriff and court record path. A state inmate housed at Sevier follows UDC and Board authority. Parole means release into community supervision, not the end of the sentence. A Board termination or maximum expiration is closer to discharge.

County good-behavior credit is discretionary under Utah Code section 76-3-403 for eligible jail terms. It is not the same as Utah's state-prison parole process. Do not calculate a firm date without the signed judgment, credit already served, the jail's actual award, and any remaining hold.

Sevier Jail Release List Limits

No populated official Sevier County 24-hour or 72-hour release feed was verified. The sheriff site had routes titled “Inmate Search” and “Felony Release Report,” but both were placeholders during research. They did not disclose fields, update times, or retention. A similarly named Tennessee sheriff site must not be used for Utah records.

For a group of departures, define a Mountain Time range and request an existing release log or report. GRAMA does not require an agency to program a new custom list. For one person, a phone check, VINE event, court entry, and focused release-record request are more direct.

Reconcile Sevier Release Records

Conflicts between sources do not always mean one record is false. Jail staff record the physical departure, a clerk enters the court action, VINE receives an agency feed, and UDC or the Board updates a state case on a separate schedule. Capture the access time and exact status from each source. Then ask the record owner to correct its own data. The sheriff handles a Sevier booking or release error, the court clerk handles a docket error, and UDC or the Board handles a state status or decision issue.

When the event is urgent, use the jail's direct response as the first physical-custody check. For a durable account, obtain the existing custody record and match it to the court or Board authority. This method also guards against a same-name mismatch and explains why a current list can change before the legal record is complete.

Match Sevier Release Authority

Sevier County lies in Utah's Sixth Judicial District, while justice courts handle matters within their limited authority. Because the jail also houses people committed by other counties, the nearest courthouse may not own the controlling case. Use the case number and arresting or committing agency from the jail record before asking a clerk for the disposition. A court order explains the legal reason for a release, but the jail entry still gives the physical departure time.

Bond and pretrial release mean the criminal case can remain open after the person leaves. Time served means a custodial part ended, but another case, probation, fine, restitution, or hold may remain. A transfer keeps the person in official custody. Precise labels matter when family members plan transportation, confirm a court event, or need to reconnect with someone.

MyCase is a free route for a party viewing eligible personal cases. Public Xchange access follows separate terms and may exclude juvenile, sealed, or expunged matters. If the case record and jail record conflict, contact each record owner rather than assuming the newest screen is complete.

Date Sevier Release Evidence

Write down when each source was checked. A later status can replace an earlier screen, while the underlying jail entry keeps the physical departure tied to its booking episode.
